Clariant has upped its sustainability focus and portfolio of natural ingredients with the announcement that it will distribute Brazilian firm Beraca’s cosmetics ingredient line in Germany Austria, and Switzerland.

As of the first of April, the Swiss ingredients player will use its Group’s company CRM International to offer Beraca’s cosmetics portfolio to the D-A-CH region.

The company already offers its Plantasens natural ingredients range through CRM International, including plant-based actives, multi-functional emulsifiers, and a selection of emollients, ranging from vegetable oils and natural butters to alternatives to silicones, petrolatum and lanolin.

This new deal will see Beraca’s portfolio of active performance systems, fixed and essential oils, clays, butters and bioscrubs - sustainably harvested from Brazilian biomes, added to this offering.

Extended protfolio

It will be the first time customers in the region will have complete access to the portfolio of natural ingredients, in order to support development of sustainable formulations for the cosmetics and personal care markets.

“Beraca’s sustainable, ethically -sourced high performance products with proven efficacy perfectly complement our natural-origin Plantasens range and reinforce Clariant’s commitment to offering more sustainable solutions to the German-speaking market,” says Boris Segalowitch, Head of Personal Care in Europe, Business Unit industrial & Consumer Specialties at Clariant.

Daniel Sabará, CEO of Beraca, adds that it is an exciting step in his company’s new alliance with Clariant, having previously signed a deal for the Swiss firm to acquire a 30% share in Beraca’s Health and Personal Care Division, with the aim of producing sustainable ingredients for the market.

“Beraca has long been committed to social and environmental sustainability, and to preserving biodiversity, and we have received several awards in recognition of this,” says Sabará.

“We are pleased to support Clariant’s customers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland with access to a now broader portfolio of such sustainable innovations.”

Beraca’s portfolio mainly comprises natural oils and butters from the Amazonian region, such as Açai, Brazil Nut and Cupuaçu butter and also includes natural active ingredients for skin and hair.
