Fenty Beauty's China expansion

Rihanna’s cosmetics brand Fenty Beauty is set to launch into the Chinese market on 1st​ April.

The pop star announced the expansion in a video on her Weibo account and said: “China has such a rich culture that has always inspired me and I cannot wait to share Fenty Beauty with all of you, celebrating all of your unique beauty."

Beiersdorf set to buy La Prairie clinic & appoint new CEO

The German beauty and personal care company Beiersdorf, which owns various skin care brands including Nivea and La Prairie, has signed to purchase the historic Clinique La Prairie, where the luxury brand was originally conceived.

The premises, which is based in Montreux, Switzerland, will apparently continue to operate as a medical clinic.

Beiersdorf CEO Vincent Warnery called this “a strategic move” and said it “strengthens Beiersdorf’s luxury business and fosters a unique partnership between La Prairie and Clinique La Prairie that inspires even closer collaboration opportunities.”

The La Prairie Group, which has seen sales repeatedly drop​ over the past year, has also just announced it has a new CEO, Estelle Létang, who will start the role on 1st​ April.

Caudelie founders invest in French skin care startup

The founders of prestige French skin care brand Caudalie, Mathilde and Bertrand Thomas, have invested €1.5m in Skin and Out, a French skin care brand that puts a focus on acne.

The funding will reportedly be used for product development and to maximise the brand’s retail presence in France.

Last year, the duo invested in pregnancy and new mother personal care brand Talm.

L’Occitane expanding café-store hybrid concept

French multinational L’Occitane plans to open a new L’Occitane Café in Riyadh.

The natural cosmetics company already has already opened three other hybrid store-cafes in Paris, Dubai and Shibuya.

At the innovative retail concept, the brand sells food and drink alongside its cosmetics ranges.

Potential sale of Rare Beauty

Pop star, actress and beauty brand founder is Selena Gomez is said to be considering the sale of her cosmetics brand, Rare Beauty, which is supposedly worth US$2bn.  

So far, Gomez has declined to give a comment on the potential sale.
